ANNOUNCEMENT — ELLETTSVILLE PD TO HOST "DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND SURVIVAL: A GUIDE FOR INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITIES."

Date Issued: 05/12/2024
Expiration Date: 06/01/2024

The Ellettsville Police Department is excited to announce that we will be hosting “Disaster Preparedness and Survival: A Guide for Individuals, Families, and Communities.” The course is designed to teach community members how to prepare for, survive, and recover from a disaster. Participants will learn the logic behind the decision to evacuate or shelter in place and what to do once they make it. This course follows a “me, we, they” approach to prepare participants to care for themselves, their families, and their communities before, during, and after a disaster. Through a combination of facilitated discussions and hands-on activities based on real-life scenarios, the instructors will demonstrate how planning, preparedness, and responsible actions may increase the chances of both surviving a disaster and recovering from it more quickly.

We will be holding the course at the Ellettsville Town Hall, 1150 W. Guy McCown Dr., on June 15 and June 16, 2024. Please see the attached flyer for more details and to sign up for the course. This program is sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and is free to all community members. For more information please contact Officer John Newcomer at jnewcomer@ellettsville.in.us.
